For me (and many other people) those first letters don't have your ID number. You should have already gotten a letter in the mail before trying this, or some claim forms to fill out. But luckily a few days later I got the PUA approval letter in the mail. For me, I freaked out a bit because one day I noticed it was letting me file a new claim again, and I had no idea if that meant I was approved or denied. If you log in to UI Online and go to "File a claim", and it says "Your claim is still processing", there won't be much use for the EDD ID number yet, because there won't be any weeks to certify. : This should work for claims that have already been processed. The intention was there and some people eventually figured it out, but it appeared many were confused. Credit to the OP for leading us on the right path at least. Really nuts how they don't include the ID on any of those documents. It helped me tremendously as I was able to then go in and immediately certify 4 weeks that were waiting there. I believe there are two pages to the application, and once you hit 'Submit', you -should- see your account number. Make sure you fill everything out accurately. Then proceed to fill out the application form. (majorly important detail missing from the original post). Click on the link for 'Claimants Registration'. you want to be able to see all the options - ex, 'UI Online', 'UI Mobile', 'SDI', etc. Make sure you don't log directly in to UI Online, for example. Log in to the main EDD BPO (Benefits Program Online) portal. I was confused by his instructions as they were a bit vague.
